Brandon's mom made me some chicken soup for my birthday and I really liked it. So, I asked her to teach me to make it. She took me to the store to get all the ingredients since I am clueless. Do you know what rutabega or anise are? And I never could have told you what leeks look like. I was surprised how much it all cost. I was imagining this to be cheaper than buying it already made, but mine was probably more natural and healthy anyways.
I wish I had taken pictures of the individual piles of chopped veggies and chicken because you can't really tell that I put a lot of effort into it when it is done.
Brandon said my soup reminded him of a homeless shelter. He said it could feed like 10 people ;) Maybe I added too much chicken or something.
Well, it was fun and we will have enough to last us the rest of this cold spring... (haha, it is supposed to be like 100 degrees this weekend)

That's awesome! I bet it was so so yummy.
I'm very impressed. I do have some really easy and delicious recipes for homemade soup if you want them, there isn't anything in them that you haven't heard of before. Congrats though, it is always fun to make something homemade for the fist time.
I love soup. But yeah, it's kind of a pain in the rear to make. I made a tomato-pepper soup once out of the Naked Chef cookbook (it was the one recipe where i recognized all the ingredients) and it was pretty dang hard. had me sweating and spitting by the end. But hurrah for you and your soup which is making me hungry. :)
sounds delish! And doesn't soup get to be so huge in like two seconds?! I always make way more than I should, and the leftovers end up going bad! :)
Yum...you're making me hungry! I love homemade soups. Leeks? I would LOVE to try it sometime (hint, hint!) Miss you!
Yay! Making home-made soup can be very time consuming, but oh so rewarding! Congrats on your yummy efforts! :)
