Back To My Roots
I planned a little road trip to my home town after Thanksgiving so Brandon and Dean could see where I grew up. My mom came with us and we had a nice little adventure. We stopped in Santa Barbara for lunch and a walk on the pier and it reminded me why I love California beaches so much.
Brandon took this shot on Pismo Pier. It was a perfect day despite the rain forecast.
We hiked around Montana De Oro and saw some beautiful beach cliffs and 20 foot offshore waves.
This is my friend Alli from the 3rd grade. She was so sweet to be our tour guide and Dean was obsessed with her daughter Emily. It was good to see them.
The main reason we went was to see my grandparents. Dean and my grandpa had never met, so that was cool. He called him "Papa Steve" most of the time, but my grandpa didn't mind. We even saw my uncle Paul who I haven't seen in like 6 years. We enjoyed staying with Nana and Grandpa and catching up. It is amazing that I don't remember more about my childhood, but a few sights brought back memories. Brandon has never traveled further north along the coast so maybe next time we can see Northern California.

How fun! I love Santa Barbara area. I didn't know that you grew up there - did I? I guess you can't answer that. We need to get together soon.
