Wisconsin in the fall
We went to visit my mom and Steve for 2 weeks so we had plenty of time to relax and explore. There was a truck load of cattle delivered one day and the kids were entertained. They were mooing like crazy, the cows and the kids. It was fun to watch the cattle run around and greet their new friends.
I think the highlight of our trip was getting to ride the horses 5 times. Dalila rode Misty with my mom and every time the horse ride got bumpy she would laugh and say "again." Dean rode on Chad with Steve leading him and I rode Lady. It was beautiful in the woods with the colorful fall leaves.
Dean was obsessed with climbing the apple trees and Dalila was obsessed with taking a bite out of each of them. They must have eaten 4 apples a day and Dean and I picked hundreds for the horses and pigs.
The weather was chilly, but that didn't stop us from exploring the outdoors most of the day.
We wanted to visit for Chirstmas this year but decided it would cost too much and the weather would hinder some of our outdoor fun so instead we just pretended it was Christmas. We picked out a tree from Steve's mom's property and cut it down.
Steve and I carried it into the house.
And then Dean and I decorated it. It must have been 15 feet tall. It was perfect.
We celebrated Christmas with Steve's mom and the kids enjoyed their new clothes and toys.
Then it was time to celebrate Halloween :) Steve had hundreds of pumkins and squash in his garden so we helped harvest them for the pigs. Dalila had fun sitting on them while Dean, Steve and I piled them around her.
We picked out a few to carve. They kids helped me scoop out the insides and took a nibble of the lids.
The kids dressed up for the local library's Halloween party.
The kids liked to watch the pigs dig their noses in the dirt. One night I made chili with pork in it and Dean yelled, "Yum! This meat is so good! I could eat all the pork in town!"

Dalila found a little car in the shed and loved it
And Dean got a bike for Christmas from Grandma Marie and Papa Steve. It was a bit bigger than his bike at home, but he didn't have any problems riding it. He was flying down the driveway and riding all over the farm loving it!
The kids really enjoyed being out in nature. They never complained about the cold like I did and were always ready for the next farm chore we needed to do. Dean helped my mom scrape the barn floor and they both helped feed the horses almost every day. Brandon called us one night to tell us he got a raise and I was explaining to Dean that means more money and he said, "Oh good, now Daddy can buy us more food!" I was cracking up thinking that of all things, his one wish was for more food. It made it sound like we are starving him. Brandon worked hard while we were gone not only working, but he also tiled the kids' bathroom floor and had the exterior of the house painted.
I am so grateful that the kids have this beautiful place to enjoy being a kid. Thanks mom and Steve for being so generous. We had a great vacation!
